Wondering what it’s like to hang out with us everyday?
A typical week
Our days are a mix of structured activities and free play, both indoors and outdoors. We have an expansive outdoor space with a mini forest where the children play freely, they climb trees or make cakes in the mud kitchen.
Every Monday and Friday we serve “smørelunsj”, a buffet lunch consisting of different types of spread and vegetables.
Every Tuesday we have music classes with a music educator.
Every Wednesday we go on a longer trip to the Commons, Cannizaro Park and other areas in our local community.
We spend time outdoors regularly, and often have our lunch outside in the garden.
The pre-school group have lessons in PSHE, mathematics and literacy once a week.
We aim to balance our days with movement and rest, so we also read to the children a lot and encourage them to do puzzles, arts & crafts projects in addition to the topical classes we have where we address topics from the Framework Plan or celebrate important cultural traditions to help children gain an understanding of diversity.
We accommodate individual needs by offering rest time for the children who benefit from it, particularly the younger ones. Each day, after lunch or fruit snack, depending on the child’s needs — we have a quiet rest/sleep period. During this time, we listen to calming music, creating a peaceful atmosphere in a dark room. This helps the children recharge and gives them space to process their experiences and impressions from the day
