Our quick guide to “play and weather proof” gear for your little explorer.

Come rain, come shine!

 

We will be outdoors daily and on trip days Wednesdays, regardless of weather.

Play-based learning outdoors is all about being comfortable and prepared, so please bring these recommended items listed below labelled with your child's name.

On sunny days during spring/summer, we kindly ask you to apply a first layer of sunscreen before you drop your child off. We will then reapply as needed throughout the day.

General

  • Water bottles and lunch boxes

  • An ergonomic backpack suitable for being outdoors which your child can carry for longer distances

  • Slippers to wear inside

  • 1-2 underwear

  • 2 cotton socks

  • 1 pair of wellies

  • 1 set rain jacket and pants (sample)

  • 1 pair of comfortable trousers (jogging bottoms or leggings)

  • 1 long sleeved top

  • 1 fleece zip up jacket or sweater

Autumn/Spring

  • 1 t-shirt

  • 1 thick jumper

  • 1 pair of Gore-Tex high or low trainers (sample)

  • Waterproof gloves

  • 1 shell jacket

  • Sunscreen

Winter

  • Base layer - thermals or wool (sample)

  • Mid layer - fleece or other warm tracksuit bottoms

  • Top layer - fleece or wool jumper

  • Winter set - jacket and pants or coverall

  • Neck warmer (no scarfs due to increased suffocation risk)

  • Hat and gloves (wool and fleece preferred, but also cotton)

  • 1-2 wool or fleece socks

  • 1 pair of sturdy warm outdoor boots (sample)

    Optional

  • 1 pair of Cherrox (or snow boots)

Summer

  • Sunscreen

  • 1 pair of light trainers

  • 1 t-shirt

  • 1 shorts/skirt/dress

    Optional

  • A sun hat/cap for sunny days

  • 1 cotton sweater

  • 1 pair of sandals
